Good child care harder to find: study

Article Abstract:

A new report by the Canadian Council on Social Development says that nearly 2 million of Canada's children receive regular care from persons other than their parents. The report, which is called the State of Canada's Children, also reported that only one in five children are enrolled in professional facilities.

'Cancer vaccine trials within three years'

Article Abstract:

The Canadian government will create a new agency that will be responsible for developing low-cost vaccines. The agency, which will attempt to develop vaccines against cancer, AIDS and other diseases, will be called the Canadian Network for Vaccines and Immunotherapies of Cancer and Chronic Viral Diseases.

Urban poverty soared in early 1990s: study

Article Abstract:

A new report by the Canadian Council on Social Development reveals that urban poverty in Canada has risen by nearly 34% between 1990 and 1995. The 234-page study, which revealed that Montreal, Quebec has the most poor people in the country, is called "Urban Poverty in Canada."
