'Harvest of shame' redux

Article Abstract:

CBS-TV revealed the plight of migrants in 1960 with its broadcast of Edward R. Murrow's 'Harvest of Shame' documentary, which showed the squalid living conditions, miserable wages and abuses suffered by the migrant farmers. However, the investigations conducted in 1990 and then in 2003 found that nothing has changed, and the situation has worsened for a new wave of immigrants.

Blocking AgJOBS

Article Abstract:

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tennesse, blocked Senator Craig's AgJOBS bill, planned to attach as an amendment to a class-action litigation bill that the Senate Republican majority and some Democrats wanted to enact. He prevented a vote on the AgJOBS bill stating that taking issues that are bigger than class action and trying to address those, as amendments are absurd.
