Heavenly returns at the top of Jacob's ladder

Article Abstract:

Stephen Couche, marketing director of Orlando Wyndham Wines, has been attempting for 25 years to develop a brand of wine and market it around the world. In 1976, he launched Jacob's Creek to produce wine and market it in Australia and abroad. In 1998, Jacob's Creek will sell 2.8 mil cases of wine, worth more than $30 mil. In 2000, he expects to sell 48 mil cases worth $4 mil.

Wynn dynasty's winning ways

Adam Wynn's family has been in the wine business in Australia since his father and grandfather bought vineyards in Victoria and South Australia in the 1940s and 1950s. His Mountadam winery specializes in high-quality chardonnay and markets internationally in Japan and other countries. Recommended Mountadam wines include the Chardonnay 1996 and the pinot noir.

Article Abstract:

The sales of wine in Australia has stayed consistent over a decade. Between 1987 and 88, Australians spent over $34 mil on wine, and in 1998 they have spent about the same. Furthermore, Australian tastes have improved and they rely heavily on sophisticated wines because the industry is becoming more competitive worldwide.
