Lawsuits broil over grille similarities

Article Abstract:

DaimlerChrysler is suing General Motors (GM) over allegations that the front grille of GM's Hummer H2 SUV is very similar as the Jeep's front grille. DaimlerChrysler said consumers often confused the Hummer's grille with that of the Jeep. On the other hand, GM claims the Hummer has had the grille for 20 years, and has filed its own countersuit. GM says that AM General received a trademark for the grille in 1996. The trademark went unopposed until GM bought AM General in 1999.
