Judge might inspire appeal

Article Abstract:

Microsoft Corp is planning to include some of Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson's off-the court remarks to the press in a bid to undermine his ruling on the company's antitrust case. The company, which is crafting an appeal of the ruling that orders its division into two separate organizations, is expected to include Jackson's remarks that appeared in the pages of such papers as 'The Wall Street Journal,' 'The New York Times' and 'The Washington Post.'

Wireless could suffer Y2K jam

Article Abstract:

Wireless telephone service providers are urging people not to test their land-based telephones around midnight of Dec 31, 1999, because the resulting congestion could jam their networks. ABN AMRO analyst Kevin Roe noted that if land-based networks are jammed, wireless telephones will most likely be affected because wireless signals typically make much of their journey over land-based systems. However, these wireless phone companies say their technology will handle the year 2000 computer date transition problem without any glitches.
