If the debate was ever moral, Howard's lost it

Article Abstract:

John Howard, Prime Minister of Australia, proclaimed in a national address that the Aboriginal people had been ill-treated and have affinity with their land. However, Howard stated that pastoralists could lose their land according to the decision in the Wik case. Howard's critics suggest he deliberately hid crucial information about the case and only addressed the issue to regain public appeal.

Howard makes up for lost votes

Article Abstract:

John Howard's trip to Aboriginal communities was political. He managed to win back votes when he participated in Aboriginal traditional ceremonies, spoke to tribal leaders, and showed care for women and children. It will be a difficult task for opposing leaders to portray him as anti-Aborigine. His visit was intended to repair the damage done in 1997 concerning the reconciliation conference.

Timid, hypocritical, lacking credibility, and alone

Article Abstract:

There is an overwhelming consensus among federal government leaders to put the One Nation party last on their lists of preferences. However, Prime Minister John Howard has indicated he is not uncomfortable with the Queensland Coalition giving preferences to One Nation. Others have expressed their views publicly by indicating they would not allocate preferences to One Nation's candidates.
