Investors find favor with Mp3.com IPO deal

Article Abstract:

Mp3.com's initial public offering (IPO) raised a total of $344 million , the fifth-highest amount generated by any other Internet-based company. The IPO raised the market value of the company to $779 million as of Jul 21, 1999, a valuation that is 45% greater than its rival LiquidAudio. Mp3.com, a World Wide Web site that permits users to download music via their computers, reported a loss of $357,538 in 1998 from total revenues of $1.2 million.
