Labatt forced to yield to ASC again

Article Abstract:

Labatt Brewing Company Ltd of Toronto has pulled out its television ad that encourage the theft of traffic signs. The ad showed two young men hauling junk from their homes for a year sales, but the items also included a Yield sign and a Stop Sign. Complaints from six viewers has prompted Advertising Standards Canada (ASC) to initiate an investigation, after which ASC ruled that the spot ad violated a clause of its code governing public safety.

Molson drops MacLaren as its ad agency

Article Abstract:

Molson Breweries of Canada Ltd has dropped ad agency MacLaren McCann Canada Inc, which has handled its advertising since the 1960s. Molson will cancel its Molson Export and Miller brands ad accounts with the agency, after handing the Molson Canadian account to Encore Encore Strategic Marketing Ltd. The company will launch an agency review to be completed by Aug 1999.
