Maserati revs up to woo USA again

Article Abstract:

Italian sports car manufacturer Maserati will bring into the US market in 2001, after an absence of ten years, a convertible version of its new 370-hp Maserati 3200 GT, which was introduced in the recent Paris Auto Show and will be in European showrooms in December 1998. The Maserati 3200 GT is a two-door, four-seater coupe with a tag price of $75,000. Maserati, whose US models included the Biturbo coupe and the Chrysler TC by Maserati, considered as a high-price LeBaron, aims to sell at least one third of its worldwide target of 6,000 cars in the US by 2003.

Fyffes: looking for stability

Article Abstract:

Fruit and vegetable distributor Fyffes of Dublin, Ireland, is the biggest beneficiary of European preference for bananas from the Caribbean and Africa. The company said that it expects the EU to maintain the basic elements of tariff preference and quota restriction on imports of bananas from other sources because it provides stability in the market. The company reported pretax profits of $86 million for the FY ending Oct 31, 1998, up by 15% over the previous fiscal year.

Fishing for customers

Article Abstract:

America Online Inc is reorganizing its operations in Europe in order to cater to the needs of its European customers. Its main competitive challenge in Europe come from providers who give free Internet access services such as Freeserve. AOL's marketing efforts will be centered on male, unmarried, less affluent groups attracted to Freeserve's offerings. AOL executive Jack Davies, however, said that they will continue to offer subscription services.
