New airline rules won't help most fliers

Article Abstract:

Major airlines will launch their voluntary customer service plans on Dec 15, 1999, in an effort to stave off federal regulations and ease down consumers' ires. The plans include pledges to inform travelers of lowest available rates, explain delays and disclose restrictions n frequent-flier award miles. However, the plans also include restrictions such as the right to lock in fare for 24 hours and one-day grace period for canceling a purchase, which apply to less than 20% of the passengers.

Hotels jack up price of hospitality
