New strategy in Iraq: Nation emerges

Article Abstract:

The history of the emergence of Iraq as an independent nation is described, from being part of the Mongol empire and the Ottoman Empire to its formation with its existing boundaries. The ascendance of Saddam Hussein to power and subsequent war on Iran and occupation of Kuwait have eventually led to the invasion of Iraq by the U.S. after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the U.S.

New strategy in Iraq: Can the troop buildup in Iraq work?

Article Abstract:

Experts debate with alternate opinions on whether the troop buildup in Iraq would serve its purpose. While the troop surge is necessary for the stability of Iraq and the region, the expert with the opposing view asserts that the surge would not serve any useful and effective purpose in trying to end the civil war in Iraq.
