Article Abstract:

Australia now ranks second among 194 countries on the "quality of life" index published by the Ireland-based group International Living. Last year it ranks fifth. The US ranked first, in spite of the fact that it has more gun deaths than any industrialized country, and in spite of the growing outrage at the reduction in civil rights since September 11, 2001.

This article discusses the annual gathering of the world's most powerful media executives, and the relative lack of information obtained by journalists who cover the event. The author speculates that the executives are unwilling to discuss their projects openly for fear of being linked to insider trading.
