Nortel mulls fibre-optics spinoff

Brampton, Ont.-based Nortel Networks Corp., which is led by president and chief executive officer John Roth, is examining a plan to spin off its fiber optics manufacturing division. The spin off, which has been valued at approximately $100 billion, would create a publicly traded company.
