Ottawa to keep auto tariff

Article Abstract:

The federal government of Canada will retain the 6.7% tariff charged for imported motor vehicles from manufacturers outside the North America region that do not belong to an automotive agreement with the Canadian government. The Canadian federal government's move poses a threat to the future investments that can be placed into Canada by automakers from Japan. The Canadian government's retention of the 6.7% auto tariff is seen as sending a negative signal to potential Japanese investors.
