Paddling fever: Canada catches the dragon-boat wave

Article Abstract:

Dragon-boat racing has a 2,000-year history in Asia and was first introduced to Canada at Expo 86. The sport has now become popular, especially in Vancouver, BC, which hosted the World Championship Dragon Boat Festival in 1996. Dragon boats usually have 20 paddlers, a steersman and a drummer.

A knockout fitness routine

More Canadian men and women are becoming physically fit through boxing. Boxing provides a workout for almost the entire body. The sport improves cardiovascular fitness, increases upper-body strength, improves reflexes, improves self-confidence, and relieves stress.

Turning a corner: snowboarding is no longer a fringe sport

Article Abstract:

Snowboarding has become so popular that ski resorts are now working hard to accomodate aficianados of the sport. Hugh Smythe of Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler, BC, offers a variety of services to attract snowboarders. A list of terms for the sport is included.
