Self-care management and risk factors for depressive symptoms among Taiwanese institutionalized older persons

Article Abstract:

A cross-sectional design is used to determine the self-care management strategies and risk factors for various depressive symptoms among the residents of the public elder care homes in Taiwan. The study indicates that since self-learning acts as the main self-care strategy, healthcare providers in elder care homes should arrange several activities and people contacts for their residents to help them manage their depression symptoms.
