Setting Environmental Priorities

Article Abstract:

The US has made substantial progress in improving the environment since the first Earth Day in 1970. Air and water are cleaner, fish populations once thought eliminated are returning and endangered species are increasing. Some observers feel federal regulation must give way to state and local legislation and voluntary compliance by individuals, businesses, and potential polluters. The 106th Congress expects little activity in this area.
