Rio de Janeiro that is famous for its carnival, is a land of many paradoxes, where one can find wealthy neighborhoods adjoining shanty slums and places, where drugs are sold in the open and many tour operators are organizing tours known as favela tourism to let tourists get a feel of the real Rio. Favelas or shantytowns are infamous for their drug connection and these discreet three-hour tours take give tourists, nine per batch, a feel of life in these shanties.
