Article Abstract:

Australian rock bands have a hard time establishing themselves. Many do not get deals with record companies and have to work on their own. Since independent records are not played often on radio and not reviewed by magazines these groups have to go on tour to build up an audience. The experiences of bands such as Savage Garden, silverchair and Whitlam are discussed.
