The uncertain share market, with premiums having disappeared, and availability of discounts of more than 15%, has resulted in investors turning their interest to listed investment companies (LICs), which has become an investment option worth reconsidering. A research report indicated that the LICs are entering a period of stronger performance which, when combined with the current discounting, makes them attractive for buying.

However, while short-selling to back a sharp downward trend can deliver big gains, a sudden reversal and the emergence of renewed market strength can just as quickly wipe these out, declare experts.
