Article Abstract:

There are many social problems confronting Hispanic Americans. One such problem is their lack of political representation in spite of the fact that they comprise a sizable political force to be reckoned with. Hispanics are not as unified as some would tend to believe they have little in common aside from their ability to speak Spanish. They are also among the most impoverished in the nation, and among those who find it most difficult to assimilate in American society. This has led to racial tension between them and members of other American minority groups.
