Who knows why?

Article Abstract:

The Stillbirth and Neonatal Deaths Society is organising a conference on reducing the incidence of stillbirth. About 50% of stillbirths are inexplicable due to lack of research and statistics have remained static for about 10 years. The United Kingdom Department of Health initiative, 'Confidential Enquiry into Stillbirth and Deaths in Infancy,' established in 1992 may contribute to knowledge. However, perinatal pathology professor, Jonathan Wigglesworth considers a rise in general health of low socioeconomic groups may improve the situation.
