Toyota, Hyundai post big sales gains in June

Article Abstract:

Toyota Canada Inc. and Hyundai Auto Canada Inc. have reported sales gains that exceeded 30% in June 1998, continuing a raging sales momentum that raised the two companies' market share in 1998. The sales gains of Toyota Canada and Hyundai Auto Canada surpassed the 13% sales gain of Chrysler Canada Ltd. Toyota Canada of Toronto, Ontario, has seen its sales increased 37%, to 12,049 units in June from 8,779 in June 1997. Markham, Ontario-based Hyundai Canada's sales increased 33%, to 2,401 cars in June 1998, from 1,803 in the same period a year earlier.

Ford finds interest in new dealership idea

Article Abstract:

Ford Motor Co of Canada Ltd will talk with its dealers in Edmonton and Winnepeg to set up Ford Auto Collection dealerships. Ford will have up to 40% equity in Auto Collection and would have representatives in the board. The dealers will send Ford preliminary data on sales and profitabilty to be used as basis for the talks. Ford has been forming Auto Collection with equity participation as part of its strategy to expand its distribution network in Canada.

Finning reaches deal with strikers
