Prevalence and correlates of perineal dermatitis in nursing home residents

Article Abstract:

An investigation of the prevalence and important associates of perineal dermatitis, an adverse effect of incontinence, in the older nursing home residents was carried out. The study revealed that 5.7% had perineal dermatitis and 73% were incontinent and also impairments in tissue tolerance, perineal environmental problems and modified toileting ability from daily use of restraints were found to be associated with perineal dermatitis which could be changed with nursing interventions.

Use of time studies for determining intervention costs

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to describe the use of time studies in calculating the program costs of personnel for use in future cost-effectiveness analysis of health interventions. Time studies provide a good estimate of part of the cost of implementing an intervention that is often difficult to determine personnel time.
