When dreaming turns into a nightmare

Article Abstract:

A number of stories have appeared in the Australian press alleging artworks by indigenous artists exhibited in leading galleries were forgeries. The allegations have caused a crisis in the aboriginal art market. A Melbourne auction of 28 paintings in Apr, 1999, sold only 4. Aboriginal art is sometimes a family project, and better-known artists sometimes sign their names to works by family members.
