A good month for stocks but bonds suffer a setback

Article Abstract:

The month of July 2005 was a good month for stocks as strong earnings from corporate America lifted stocks in the US companies but bond funds lost ground as the average intermediate bond fund lost 0.5%. Internet and technology stocks helped the technology category to gain 6.3% and the natural resources category gained 7.5% due to solid earnings and level energy prices.

Hedge funds' pain could be your gain

Convertibles are bonds that can convert into common stock at a set price and hence should be valued like a regular bond and a stock option. Vanguard Convertible Securities, Calamos Growth & Income, and Davis Appreciation & Income are three of the best convertible funds existing in the market.
