Keeping the sights on a moving target

Article Abstract:

The stock market and any one stock are both moving targets in Australia, as they are elsewhere. When looking at data, a moving average is the best thing to follow. Straight lines once were used to track a trend, but a moving average acts as a curving trendline to sustain lows as the market goes up or restrain the highs as it falls. If the price stays above the moving average in an uptrend, investors do well to decide to hold the stock, but if the price goes through it, they sell. Other strategies are also used.
