Article Abstract:

A research project which sought to determine the extent of homelessness in Great Britain, exclusive of London, is detailed. David Whynes of Nottingham University examined the problem in Nottingham. He found that about one-third of the homeless surveyed were migrants, and most were less than 36 years old. There were significant differences in circumstance between the migrant homeless and the locals. High occupancy in the city's hostels and the large number of migrants indicate a national problem.

The audit specifically studied the effects of paper use, glass consumption and transportation. Recommendations included reevaluating the need for paper and the use of car pooling to reduce pollution.
