Time to tie your mortgage down?

Article Abstract:

UK borrowers have to choose between fixed ad variable-rate mortgages. They have to forecast what is likely to happen to interest rates before making a decision. Many analysts argue that fixed rate mortgages can offer a good deal in Mar 1996. Mortgage rates are unlikely to be reduced much further, and may rise during 1997. Mortgage rates may not be reduced even if UK interest rates drop, since they are linked to long-term rates and have already fallen to low levels.
