GERMANY: POTASH INVESTMENT IN STANFURT

Article Abstract:

Pottasche Stanfurt GmbH & Co. KG is building a production plant for potash in east German Stasfurt. Commercial operation is to start at the beginning of 2002. The DM 15mn, 20,000-tpy facility replaces a semi-pilot plant with a capacity of 3,000 tpy. The new facility supplied by the Weimar-based company Glatt is based on a new fluidised bed granulation technology. The potash will go to the glass, chemical, agrochemical, pharmaceutical, food and photochemical industries. Fischer + Limberger GmbH, the Berlin-based company backing Pottasche Stasfurt, is considering the production of also caustic potash solution in Stasfurt.
