GERMANY: SUSTAINABILITY COUNCIL OF BASF

Article Abstract:

In an effort to contribute to an economic, ecological and social development which does not impair the development opportunities of future generations, German Ludwigshafen-based BASF has founded a Sustainability Council. The new council will develop strategies in the fields of economy, ecology and society. Eggert Voscherau, managing board member and personnel director, will head the Sustainability Council.

GERMANY: OXXYNOVA FOR DEGUSSA-HULS DMT

Article Abstract:

Degussa-Huls is hiving off its dimethyl terephthalate business to a new company called Oxxynova GmbH & Co KG in order to make it more flexible in the market. From 1 April 2001 the new Marl-based company will take over the production plants in Lulsdorf and Steyerberg. The company with 250 staff and an annual production capacity of 480,000 tonnes will seek to expand its European market leadership.

Switzerland: Clariant's IT unit to Accenture

Article Abstract:

Swiss producer of speciality chemicals Clariant will spin of its information technology division and transfer it to Accenture AG. The Zurich-based consultancy is to be in charge of the operational management of the SAP Core Competence Centres. The final contract is to be signed at the beginning of September 2001.
