Something in the air

Article Abstract:

Educational and environmental charities in the UK include the British Lung Foundation, Friends of the Earth, and the National Asthma Campaign. These groups are concerned over rising levels of respiratory problems in the UK, and links to traffic pollution. Increased spending on public transport could reduce these problems. Current policies are geared toward road building which will exacerbate the situation despite the introduction of catalytic converters, since usage of cars is increasing.

Justice, age, and veneration

Article Abstract:

The proposition that age discrimination is unjust can be made intelligible based on status, involving the notion that discrimination on the basis of age is an expression of a false and derogatory judgment. The standard argument against discrimination based on equalizing benefits does not apply to age discrimination, however. The veneration accorded to old people suggests a view that longevity somehow enlarges a person.
