Trust in the marketplace: an exploratory computer simulation

Article Abstract:

The relationship between mobility within the marketplace and the opportunity for unethical business behavior was examined. Computer modeling techniques were used to simulate ease of entry into and exit from markets as well as the interactions of consumers and producers. Results showed that greater mobility increases the likelihood for producers to mistreat consumers, scaring the latter away and creating a local shortage in the process. Producers with strictly limited marketplace mobility are forced to bear the consequences of this shortage.

The implications of stakeholder statutes for socially responsible managers

Article Abstract:

Socially responsible managers should influence the culture of their organization and shareholders to incorporate socially responsible goals into the business strategy. Shareholder support is essential requirement for the stakeholder statutes to allow managers to advocate socially responsible concerns. Given that the statutes were enforced, the improved corporate social responsibility will still rely on broader changes in the stakeholders' priorities.
