Perfecting imperfect duties: collective action to create moral obligations

Article Abstract:

The collective behavior of businesses towards solving ethical problems in business can yield positive benefits. Imperfect duties can be perfected through a decrease in temptations to moral laxity, removal of the gaps that characterize uncoordinated efforts, achievement of economies of scale wherein benefits are acquired through the appropriation of adequate resources for the solution of a social problem, solution of assurance problems and the production of higher levels of contribution as a result of independent actions.

Game theory and business ethics

Article Abstract:

Robert C. Solomon's seven criticisms of John von Neumann's and Oskar Morgenstern's game theory treatise have been reproduced from Solomon's book 'Ethics and Excellence.' In it, Solomon included questions of rationality and the prioritization of self-interest, the debunking of the Theory of Justice, too much concern about money, altruism, goal-oriented behaviors, mathematical modeling and the game of life rules. Solomon's argument that game theory is a monstrosity in business ethics seems particularly absurd.
