A new non-proliferation strategy

Article Abstract:

Rules that govern nuclear exports, safeguard fissile materials and control and eliminate weapons made from them are not self-enforcing and hence international agencies must take the responsibility to mobilize the power needed to enforce and adapt these rules at this time when enriched uranium and such other materials are easily available. The new non-proliferation regime should therefore erect a defense system that protects people from new and old dangers emanating from the spread of nuclear weapons.

Symbol and sovereignty in North Korea

Article Abstract:

Symbol and performance are recognized as crucial to statecraft since a long time but North Korea is a state, which has put an extreme degree of emphasis on symbolic performance as a mediating layer in the production of sovereignty. The international community can understand the goals and aspirations of this state only by the painstaking work of assessing these symbols and practices as North Korea conceives its own sovereignty through them.
