Administrative autonomy among American state agencies: an empirical analysis of fragmentation and functionalism

Article Abstract:

The concept of administrative autonomy among American state agencies is empirically analyzed in the light of two components namely fragmentation and functionalism. The central findings concluded that there are positive relationships between the institutional and perceptual dimensions for both fragmentation and functionalism.

Faces and Phases of transparency reform in local government

Article Abstract:

The discontinuities between various interpretations of transparency in local government jurisdictions are discussed by drawing on public and official perceptions. It is suggested that scholarship on transparency needs to recognize the different changes in meaning ascribed to this very important administrative principle.
