Windfarms in the U.K.: the arguments for and against

Article Abstract:

The development of windfarms in the UK and Wales, which began in 1991, has been hounded by controversies from the start. The main arguments stemmed from these structures' potential impact on the wilderness areas where they are being developed, as well as from institutional skepticisms surrounding the benefits of wind energy. However, it has been argued that windfarms can be tapped as a non-fossil energy source that can aid in the diversification of electricity sourcing even as they could also be the answer to efforts at addressing global warming. Clearly, what the UK and Wales governments should do is to balance the advantages of windfarms with their disadvantages to better convince local populations about their viability as an energy source.
