Black males and the criminal justice system

Article Abstract:

The discrimination of some police and law enforcers against African American men has contributed much to the increase in the number of those who are in jail, or on probation or parole. Statistics indicate a sharp increase in the number of African American men in their 20's who are somehow in trouble with the law. Jails and prisons have become big business and is considered as the number one growth industry in the country. Different rehabilitation programs have been proposed to curb this increase including recruiting volunteers to serve as deputized probation officers for young offenders.

Will blacks & Jews ever come of age?

Article Abstract:

Blacks and Jews share a volatile relationship that leads to riots and lawlessness. Tension between the communities prevailed in Crown Heights in New York, which has a large African American and Jewish population, because of issues such as the accidental killing of a black girl by a Jewish car driver. Affirmative action programs and unsavory comments of black leaders about Jews have aggravated the rift between the communities. However, some community organizations try to establish an understanding between the two communities.
