Britain: a very domestic election

Article Abstract:

John Major and the Conservative Party won firm victories in the elections of Apr, 1992, doing so on the basis of domestic issues. The Conservatives benefited from the presence of the Labour and Liberal Democrat opposition parties, which would not join forces. Major's government will have problems with public expenditure. The Conservative party has not solved the problem of allowing greater local control over local affairs without increased central costs. The rule of Scotland remains at issue and British defense policy has not been discussed.

Controllers regulate log conditioning vats

Article Abstract:

Keystone Veneers has automated its log soaking process, thereby reducing its dependence upon unreliable and often unsafe manual practices. The new process regulates log soaking temperatures by keeping them within one degree accuracy of setpoint, and includes increasing the temperature in a smooth, linear fashion. Thirteen recipes containing information on water temperatures coupled with the data output generated also contribute to the quality control effort.
