Capitalist limits to liberal democracy: A response to John A. Berteaux

Article Abstract:

A writer agrees with John A. Berteaux that correctly identifies the limits of liberal democratic ideals in overcoming global inequality as these ideas are imposed by the US policymakers. He further argues that if global inequality were ever to be overcome it would be through building a transnational social movement of movement from below that would put liberal democratic ideals into practice by confronting the contradictions of global capitalism.
