Article Abstract:
Civil war in Colombia, dating from the 1940s, remains unresolved in the 1990s. Most worldwide attention has been focused on activity from the nation's drug cartels, yet leftist guerrillas control large territories that include drug processing and transportation locations. Colombia's violence and political instability have the potential to destabilize the Western hemisphere.
