Competition and cooperation in environmental policy: individual and interaction effects

Article Abstract:

Explanations to the theory of reality regulatory competition to analyze the individual effects of competition and cooperation on national policies, and the impact of their interaction are presented. It is found that interaction of regulatory competition and regulatory cooperation limits the scope of effectiveness to countries which are members of international organizations with binding rules and which belong to a common market.

In whose interest? Pressure group politics, economic competition and environmental regulation

Article Abstract:

The effects of corporate environmental performance strategies on environmental and consumer risk policies are studied. Further, empirical research on national and international environment and consumer risk regulation shows that cases of declining regulatory stringency are extremely rare, and standards in most countries and policy-areas tend to move upwards.

Economic growth as environmental policy? Reconsidering the Environmental Kuznets Curve

Article Abstract:

The relationship between continued economic growth leading to superior environmental quality is described as Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) and its policy-relevance is reconsidered. The results show that EKC idea is an inadequate guide for environmental policy makers around the globe.
