Downsizing and organizational restructuring: what is the impact on hospital performance?

Article Abstract:

The effects of hospital restructuring and downsizing on hospital functioning are studied. Restructuring and downsizing has different impacts on hospital performance. Hospitals undertaking restructuring fared well when compared to those with both restructuring and downsizing followed by the ones with downsizing alone.

The role of management consultation, support, and coping on nurses' health during the stress of restructuring

Article Abstract:

The impact of Australian hospital restructuring on the health of the hospital nurses is examined. The positive and negative implications of the support received from peer groups and the upper management respectively, in the stress management of the nurses, are discussed.

Perceptions and misperceptions of major organizational changes in hospitals: do change efforts fail because of inconsistent organizational perceptions of restructuring and reengineering?

Article Abstract:

Employees' perceptions on the restructuring or reengineering efforts of hospitals are analyzed. The analysis suggests that employee perceptions vary through management levels, and that the upper level management viewed restructuring more positively than line personnel.
