Escaping the cycle of eternal recurrence

Article Abstract:

Architect Arata Isozaki asserts that Japanese history is a recurring sequence of internalization of outside cultural influences, the resulting agitation and receptiveness to more external ideas. He also stresses the need to integrate modernist and traditional strains in building design in order for both Japanese and westerners to appreciate it.

Warner Bros. Records Chmn. and CEO Danny Goldberg believes that conservatives like Newt Gingrich have contradictory views regarding the mass media. Goldberg does not see any logic in blaming sources of entertainment, such as music, for the moral erosion that prevails in American society.
