European environmental NGOs: Issues, resources and strategies in marine campaigns

Article Abstract:

The factors affecting marine environmentalists campaigning in the U.K. and across Europe in relation to issues, strategies and resources are compared with those who work within marine environmental non-governmental organizations (MENGOs). The success of some of the biggest and most influential MENGOs can be attributed to their radical campaigning style in their early years.

Sustainable development as symbolic commitment: Declaratory politics and the seductive appeal of ecological modernization in the European Union

The ecological modernization adapted by the European Union (EU) for the achievement of sustainable development is mere symbolic politics. The simultaneous development of environmental policies and the economy can help the EU to achieve a sustainable development as represented by the symbolism.
