India's unlikely democracy: Economic growth and political accommodation

Article Abstract:

Economic growth and liberalization have reinforced and stabilized democracy in India instead of undermining it with the heterogeneity among the dominant class still underpinning it. Inequality in some parts of the country has been a fall out of the rapid economic growth and even this dissatisfaction of the losers has positively affected political stability and responsiveness of the government.

A study was conducted to assess the effects of adult civic education programs in South Africa and Poland on political participation.
