India's unlikely democracy: Economic growth and political accommodation

Article Abstract:

Economic growth and liberalization have reinforced and stabilized democracy in India instead of undermining it with the heterogeneity among the dominant class still underpinning it. Inequality in some parts of the country has been a fall out of the rapid economic growth and even this dissatisfaction of the losers has positively affected political stability and responsiveness of the government.

Can democracy be taught?

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to assess the effects of adult civic education programs in South Africa and Poland on political participation. The main aim of civic education is to strengthen democratic political culture and to teach people about democratic values and political participation in advanced and new democracies.

Political freedom, economic liberty, and prosperity

Article Abstract:

Liberty and self-government are not only good but also have powerful and beneficial effects on a nation's level of economic development and prosperity. The cause and effect of such growth and political freedom are discussed.
