Labor law as an impediment to labor relations reform: leveling the playing field

Article Abstract:

An analysis of labor law and its impact on labor relations reform is presented. The analysis focuses on American labor law and the possibility that it may not be as valid as before because of the development of unionized employment relationships. It is shown that several changes have to be made to create an impartial basis for managing industrial relations. These changes include requirements of bargaining agent certification, exclusive representation entitlementt and job security for supervisory and managerial employees.

Federal Labor relations 2000: introduction to the symposium

Article Abstract:

Federal Labor relations face major problems as the year 2000 is approached. Labor unions and other sectors voice opposition against Title VII of the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978. The regularity of the crisis which marks federal regulation has created a cyclical process of retrenchment strategies and minimized economic gains of labor. Thus, a symposium for addressing these legal problems is organized.
