Money targeting and interest-rate targeting in an uncertain world

Article Abstract:

Monetary targeting, interest-rate targeting and exchange-rate targeting are strategies employed by central banks aim to provide stability. The exchange-rate targeting involves the anchoring of currency in foreign currencies. In the US, the dollar is more powerful than the Canadian or the Mexican currencies, and the Federal Reserve must employ the techniques of monetary targeting or interest-rate targeting to anchor the dollar. Models of money demand and money supply are employed to highlight the differences between monetary targeting and interest-rate targeting.
