Must egalitarians choose between fairness and respect?

Article Abstract:

Egalitarians might wish to consider adopting a view of fairness as equal status established by the moral attributes of economic and social relations between people. Authority and coercion

Article Abstract:

Conception of coercion is related to a widespread misunderstanding of the significance to political philosophy of choice and voluntary action. The author offers a Kantian approach to the question of use of force where the state's claim to authority is inseparable from the rationale for coercion.
