Q & A for publisher and NAACP leader

Article Abstract:

When Benjamin Hooks became executive director of the NAACP in 1977, he wanted the organization to have its own permanent headquarters, increase its membership and ensure that its programs would remain responsive to the needs of minority groups. These goals were acheived to some extent after almost 15 years of his leadership. Hooks refers to the legal battles that NAACP had to pursue several times because of insidious Supreme Court decision as the most difficult part of his job.
